Was Islam Spread by the Sword?

It is a common misconception with some non-Muslims that Islam would not have millions of adherents all over the world, if it had not been spread by the use of force.

The following points will make it clear, that far from being spread by the sword, it was the inherent force of truth, reason and logic that was responsible for the rapid spread of Islam.

Islam has always given respect and freedom of religion to all faiths. Freedom of religion is ordained in the Quran itself:
“There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong.” (Quran 2:256)

The noted historian De Lacy O’Leary wrote:
“History makes it clear however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of the sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians have ever repeated.” >>>>in his book Islam at the Crossroads, p.8.

The famous historian, Thomas Carlyle, in his book Heroes and Hero worship, refers to this misconception about the spread of Islam: “The sword indeed, but where will you get your sword? Every new opinion, at its starting is precisely in a minority of one; in one man’s head alone. There it dwells as yet. One man alone of the whole world believes it, there is one man against all men. That he takes a sword and tries to propagate with that will do little for him. You must get your sword! On the whole, a thing will propagate itself as it can.”

If Islam was spread by the sword, it was the sword of intellect and convincing arguments. It is this sword that conquers the hearts and minds of people. The Quran says in this connection:
“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best.” (Quran 16:125)

The facts speak for themselves
• Indonesia is the country that has the largest number of Muslims in the world, and the majority of people in Malaysia are Muslims. But, no Muslim army ever went to Indonesia or Malaysia. It is an established historical fact that Indonesia entered Islam not due to war, but because of its moral message. Despite the disappearance of Islamic government from many regions once ruled by it, their original inhabitants have remained Muslims. Moreover, they carried the message of truth, inviting others to it as well, and in so doing endured harm, affliction and oppression. The same can be said for those in the regions of Syria and Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, North Africa, Asia, the Balkans and in Spain. This shows that the effect of Islam on the population was one of moral conviction, in contrast to occupation by western colonialists, finally compelled to leave lands whose peoples held only memories of affliction, sorrow, subjugation and oppression.

• Muslims ruled Spain (Andalusia) for about 800 years. During this period the Christians and Jews enjoyed freedom to practice their respective religions, and this is a documented historical fact.

• Christian and Jewish minorities have survived in the Muslim lands of the Middle East for centuries. Countries such as Egypt, Morocco, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan all have significant Christian and Jewish populations.

• Muslims ruled India for about a thousand years, and therefore had the power to force each and every non-Muslim of India to convert to Islam, but they did not, and thus more than 80% of the Indian population remains non-Muslim.

• Similarly, Islam spread rapidly on the East Coast of Africa. And likewise no Muslim army was ever dispatched to the East Coast of Africa.

• An article in Reader’s Digest ‘Almanac’, yearbook 1986, gives the statistics of the increase of the percentage of the major religions of the world in half a century from 1934 to 1984. This article also appeared in The Plain Truth magazine. At the top was Islam, which increased by 235%, while Christianity had increased by 47%. During this fifty-year period, there was no “Islamic conquest” yet Islam spread at an extraordinary rate.

• Today the fastest growing religion in America and Europe is Islam. The Muslims in these lands are a minority. The only sword they have in their possession is the sword of truth. It is this sword that is converting thousands to Islam.

• Islamic law protects the privileged status of minorities, and that is why non-Muslim places of worship have flourished all over the Islamic world. Islamic law also allows non-Muslim minorities to set up their own courts, which implement family laws drawn up by the minorities themselves. The life and property of all citizens in an Islamic state are considered sacred whether they are Muslims or not.

It is clear, therefore, that Islam did not spread by the sword. The “sword of Islam” did not convert all the non-Muslim minorities in Muslim countries. In India, where Muslims ruled for 800 years, they are still a minority. In the U.S.A., Islam is the fastest growing religion and has over six million followers.

In his book The World’s Religions, Huston Smith discusses how the prophet Muhammad granted freedom of religion to the Jews and Christians under Muslim rule:
The Prophet had a document drawn up in which he stipulated that Jews and Christians “shall be protected from all insults and harm; they shall have an equal right with our own people to our assistance and good offices,” and further, “they shall practice their religion as freely as the Muslims.” Quoted in The World’s Religions by Huston Smith, Harper Collins, 1991, p. 256

Smith points out that Muslims regard that document as the first charter of freedom of conscience in human history and the authoritative model for those of every subsequent Muslim state.

So let us ask the hateful woman in the picture above:”Was Islam Spread by the Sword?”

Rights and Limits

First of all, it is important for us to keep in mind that Islam came to establish two very important fundamentals for human beings:

Rights and Limits.

Everyone and everything has certain rights given to it by the Creator and Sustainer of the universe (Allah). At the same time, each creation has its own limitations established by Allah.
First Right – Allah has the right to be worshipped without making partners from what He has created. Direct worship to Him, alone.
Second Right – Prophet’s right to be followed according to his teaching and commandments.
Third Right – Parents rights to be honored and cared for, with special emphasis on the mother first.
Fourth Right – Wives and Husbands have rights on each other.

Conditions 1,400 Years Ago

Now let us do some basic research here. We begin by looking into the condition of the women in various societies at the time 1,400 years ago when Allah revealed the Quran to Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.

Pagan Arabs – Burying Girls Alive

During that time the pagan Arab men used to bury their newborn daughters alive in the sand, out of shame for having something so low and disgusting like a girl instead of a son. Women were treated horribly and with utter disgust.

Men could marry as many as they liked and very often they owned women like cattle or sheep. There were no laws to protect the women and they had no rights at all.

Christians – Arguing If Women Had Souls

Christians at that time were holding council meetings to determine whether or not a woman even had a soul. The church blamed “Eve” the mother of all humans after Adam (peace and blessings be upon him) for the “original sin” and damned her and her seed for what she had done.

Priests – Best Men – Forbidden Marriage – To Any Women

Priests, bishops, cardinals and even the Pope are the very best of the Catholic men within the church. Yet the church still forbids their clergymen the chance for marriage and families. This unnatural situation has caused very serious ramifications throughout the society around the world.

Nuns – Best Women – No Marriage – No Children

Nuns are the very best of the Catholic women. They cover themselves in proper attire much the same way as the Muslim women. Yet, they are never allowed to marry or have children throughout their lives. This unnatural condition has caused untold number of disgraceful and disgusting practices within the very church itself.

If Only Bad People Have Children – What About Tomorrow?

We must ask the question, “If the very best of the men and the very best of the women are not allowed to marry or have children – does this mean only the worst of the people are the ones allowed to reproduce and populate the world?” – And where will that leave us tomorrow?

Jews – Blame Women and Curse Women

The Jews blamed women for the “original sin” and as such they were treated with disgust. A woman’s monthly cycle was considered by the Old Testament of the Bible to be a “curse from God” for her inequities. Her child bearing pains were also a ‘punishment from God’ for her bringing man down from heaven.

Islam – No Blame On Women For Evil

Islam does not blame Eve for Adam’s sin. Each of them accepted their own mistake and repented to Allah, and asked Allah to forgive them and Allah did forgive them.
Now before going any further, please read Surah An-Nisa’ (chapter 4 in the Quran) – all the way through, in order to better understand what is actually being said about women, men and marriage.

Read Quran

Now let us think about the verses. Do you believe that Allah Knows what He created and He has revealed the perfect ‘Deen’? Do you know the condition of the people at the time the order came to restrict the number of wives? (Restricted to be only four)
“Now read the verse about having more than one wife, very carefully.” [Noble Quran 4:3]
What does it say? And what do you understand from it?
“Now read the ayah (verse) that forbids men to marry women who are already married.” [Noble Quran 4:24]

Now read from An-Nisa’ (Chapter 4) about the role of men and women. [4:34]

Man Supports And Protects Women

Do you understand that one must take on the role of supporter, protector, provider, custodian and servant to the family (man’s role)?

Woman Gives Birth – Raises Children

One must take on the role of carrying the child and delivering it and then feeding it and raising it to become a true servant of Allah (woman’s role).

Not Equal – But Treated Fairly In Justice

Men and women are not the same nor are they “equal” as some folks would have us believe. Whatever is on one side of an ‘equals’ sign must be exactly the same as what is on the other side without any difference in value, only in the way that it is expressed. How then could we say that a man, who is unable to conceive or give birth and then breast feed a baby is the equal to a woman who can?

Equal In Faith And Actions

They are equal in their beliefs and good deeds of course. But still they are not the same as each other. Each one must fulfill their role as humans.

Children’s Rights Protected

Islam is also very much about rights. Children also have rights in Islam. When a man dies his wealth is left to his family. How could the court know who to give the wealth of a man, if he was one of several husbands to a woman? How would a child know who his father was? No society ever supported the concept of a woman being married to two or more men at the same time.

Women’s Right – Best Treatment

Almost every society supported the concept of a man having more than one woman. Yet, they did not limit the number nor did they provide the protection and maintenance that Islam insists on for each one. Islam came to set things straight. Women were given rights. Men were strictly ordered to treat their women with the very best of treatment.

Limit – Number in Marriage

When the verse was revealed the companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)did not run out with the attitude that they were going to get four wives all of a sudden. Some of them already had much more than that and these men had to divorce their wives, if they had more than four. So this was not an order to go out and get four wives. It was an order to begin limitations. And the first limitation was; No more than four.

Limit – Equal Maintenance and Treatment

Second, the limitation of equal treatment for all of them. How could a man keep more than one wife unless he was exceedingly wealthy and/or exceedingly strong and virile?
Next, the limitation very clearly states; “.. but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them) then only one …”

Muslims Today – Most Monogamous

Step by step, the men of Islam have come to be known today as the most monogamous of all men on earth (we only have one wife). Check for yourself and see. In the majority of all the Muslim homes on earth, a man gets married once, to one woman and then he stays married to her until the death of either himself or his wife.

Woman’s Right To Choose Any Husband She Likes –
Even If He Is Already Married

One very important point that is often overlooked by modern society is the right that Islam gave to the women that it does not give to the man. A man is limited to marry only from the woman who is not already married. Obviously, this provides rights for the children and provides for them from inheritance from the father. But Islam also permits the women to marry a man who is already married to protect her in a society where the number of women outnumbers the population of men. Additionally, the woman has a large selection of men to choose from. In fact, she has the right to choose from any man in the community as long as he does not already have four wives. She also has the opportunity to see how the other wife was being treated and go into a marriage knowing exactly what to expect from her husband. After all, he must treat her in the same way as he is treating the other wife.

Women Need Husbands – Allah Provided the Answer

The prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) predicted that in the Last Days the women would outnumber the men to a great extent. Today we are seeing this become a reality all over the world. Allah has already provided for us for this occasion. After all, He is the One who makes it all happen and He already knew that many women would come into Islam in these days. He also knew many of the Muslim men would be killed or die at an early age, just as it is happening these days. These women all need husbands. Allah has given us the solution to all of life’s problems.

Women’s Right to Vote – 1,400 Years Ago

We might add that Islam also gave the women full status as citizens over 1,400 years ago by giving her to right to speak and vote the same as anyone else. American women had to take their cause to the streets with “Women’s Suffrage” and were not granted the right to vote until just ninety years ago.

Women Keep Their Identity – And Their Names

Additionally, Islam protected women’s rights to keep their identity and they were not considered property of some man. As such, they were no longer forced to change their last names to be that of their husbands. This is still the practice of Muslim women today just as it was fourteen hundred years ago.

Women Keep Their Property And Earnings – Men Must Share

Yet, at the same time the western society is so concerned about the way Islam demands that a couple be married, the man actually must work instead of the woman; the woman owns her own property without giving anything for the support of the house or the child; a child has the right to his or her own mother raising them instead of a baby sitter or day care; father must support his children; divorce is hated; and marriage is sanctified.

West Can’t Tolerate Man And Woman – In Marriage

It is strange isn’t it, a society like America, has no problem accepting sex without marriage; homosexuality; same sex marriages; sex without responsibility; children without fathers; and divorces are more common place than the measles or chicken pox. Yet, there is no tolerance for marriage between a man and a woman if it is not on their terms.

What Needs to Be Re-evaluated?

Compare the two for yourself and see which one needs correction.

ANG AKLAT NA ITO AY PARA SA IYO

“ Ipahayag! Sa Ngalan ng iyong Panginoon na lumikha,
Na lumikha sa tao mula sa namumuong bagay.
…
Ipahayag! At ang iyong Panginoon ay Ang Mapagbigay,
Siya na nagturo (sa paggamit ) ng panulat,
Na nagturo sa tao sa hindi niya nalalaman.”
( Qur’an 96 : 1-5 )

Ang lahat ng pagpupuri ay sa Allah lamang, ang Panginoon ng sanlibutan.

Ang lathalaing ito ay inihanda upang ibigay ang pangunahing mensahe ng Islam lalong-lalo na sa mga di-Muslim na may maling haka-haka o impormasyon tungkol dito na sadyang lihis sa tunay na kahulugan o diwa ng Islam.
Tanggapin nawa ng Allah ang pagsisikap na ito na isinagawa bilang matapat na paglilingkod sa Kanya.

Sa kabila ng patuloy na paninira at panunuligsa ng Kanluran at mga bansang naimpluwensiyahan nito, sadyang kapuna-puna na marami pa ring mga tao sa buong daigdig ang pumapasok sa pananampalatayang Islam.

Sinuman ang matapat na naghahanap ng katotohanan at nagnanais na matamo ang kapayapaan ay tiyak na matatagpuan lamang niya ito sa Islam.

Siya ay malayang yumakap sa Islam maging anuman ang kanyang lahi, kulay o katayuan sa buhay.

Inaanyayahan ko ang lahat na maging matapat sa sarili sa paghahanap ng katotohanan. Ang talino at kaisipan na ipinagkaloob ng Dakilang Lumikha ay nararapat lamang na unang pairalin kaysa sa bugso ng damdamin.

Ang paggamit ng emosyon lamang ay nagsisilbing balakid sa paghahanap ng tamang landas.

Ang bawat pananampalataya ay nag-aangkin ng kaligtasan at katotohanan. Ngunit ang pag-aangkin na ito ay dapat lamang na magkaroon ng tunay at sapat na batayan. Ang tamang pangangatwiran na may mapananaligang batayan ay kailangan upang malaman at matiyak ang makatotohanan.

Narito ang ilang katawagang pang-Islam bilang pangunahing impormasyon na dapat malaman.
ANO ANG ISLAM?

Ang Islam ay hindi hinango sa pangalan ng tao, pook, tribo o anumang bagay na nilikha ng Diyos. Ito ay kaiba sa ibang relihiyon sapagkat ang kanilang pangalan ay hinango sa mga nilikhang bagay. Halimbawa: Ang Kristiyanismo ay hinango sa katagang Kristo; Ang Budhismo sa pangalan ni Gautama Buddha; Hinduismo sa tribo ng Indes Valley sa India; at Hudaismo sa tribo ng Juda.

Ang Islam ay isang katagang Arabik na hinango sa salitang ugat na Salam na nangangahulugan ng Kapayapaan. Ito ay nangangahulugan din ng Pagsunod, Pagsuko at pagtalima sa kalooban ng Tunay at Iisang Diyos.

Ang tunay na kapaayapaan ay nasa puso, isip at kaluluwa na nagdudulot ng kapayapaan sa kapaligiran at lipunan.Ang Kapayapaan ay hindi kailanman matatamo sa antas ng karunungan, kayamanan o katanyagan.

Bagkus ito ay matatamo lamang sa pamamagitan ng ganap at tapat na pagsunod, pagsuko at pagtalima sa kalooban ng Nag-iisang Tunay na Diyos (Allah) – ang likas na pananampalatayang ibinigay Niya sa sandaigdigan.

SINO ANG ALLAH
Ang Allah ay ang tunay at tanging Tagapaglikha. Siya ay walang anak at hindi rin ipinanganak. Siya ay walang katulad.

Ang Allah ay Diyos, hindi ng isa lamang na tribo o pangkat ng tao, bagkus Siya ang Tunay na Panginoon ng lahat. Kaya’t Siya lamang ang karapat-dapat na sambahin at wala ng iba pa.

Siya ang nagpadala ng mga Sugo upang turuan ang tao sa pagsamba tanging sa Kanya lamang. Ang ilan sa kanila ay sina: Propeta Noah, Abraham, Moses, Hesus, Mohammad (SAWS)1

Pinanatili ng mga Muslim na Siya ay tawagin sa pangalang Allah. Siya (Allah) mismo ang nagbigay ng Kanyang pangalan sa pamamagitan ng kapahayagan o rebelasyon na Kanyang ipinadala sa mga piling Propeta. Siya ang tanging Tagapaglikha ng lahat ng bagay na ating nakikita at nindi nakikita.
Ayon sa Banal na Qur’an (32 : 4)
Ang Allah ay (Siyang) lumikha ng kalangitan at kalupaan at ng lahat ng nasa pagitan ng mga ito…..”

SINO ANG MUSLIM?
Marami ang nag-aakala na ang tunay na Muslim ay ang isang tao na isinilang mula sa mga magulang na Muslim, o di kaya ay isang taong isinilang sa bansang Muslim. Ang lahi, kulay, tribo,angkan o pangalan ay hindi mga batayan upang ang isang tao ay matawag na tunay na Muslim.

Ang tunay na Muslim ay ang nilikha ng Allah na sumusunod, sumusuko at tumatalima sa Kanyang mga Kautusan. sa katunayan, hindi ang tao lamang ang matatawag na Muslim. Maging ang lahat ng mga nilikha ng Allah bukod pa sa tao (katulad ng mga bituin sa kalangitan,ang araw, buwan, hangin, hayop, atbp.) ay maituturing na Muslim, sapagkat silang lahat ay mga nilikha na sumusnod sa likas na batas na inilagay ng Allah sa kalikasan.

Isang kamalian at hindi kailanman matatanggap ng mga Muslim na sila ay tawaging Mohammadan sapagkat ito ay nagbibigay kahulugan ng pagsamba kay Propeta Muhammad (SAWS).

Ang Islam ay hindi kailanman nagtuturo ng pagsamba sa Propeta o anumang nilikha lamang ng Allah. Bagkus, ito ay naghihikayat sa tao na sumamba tangi sa nag-iisa lamang na Allah, at nagbabawal sa anumang uri ng pagsamba na iniuukol sa nilikha.

SINO SI MOHAMMAD?
Si Mohammad (SAWS) ay isinilang sa lungsod ng Makkah ( O Bacca Sa Bibliya) isang kilalang lungsod na nasasakop ng Saudi Arabia sa kasalakuyan. Siya ay isang tao na pinili ng Allah bilang huwaran ng sangkatauhan. Siya ang panghuling Sugo at Propeta ng Allah at ang kanyang mensahe ay para sa lahat ng tao.

Ang pagitan nina Propeta Mohammad at Propeta Hesus (SAWS) ay humigit kumulang sa 570 taon.

Sa katunayan, si Propeta Hesus at Propeta Muhammad ay iisa ang pinagmulan. Ito ay si Propeta Abraham (SAWS) ang tinaguriang – Ama ng Mananampalataya.

Si Propeta Hesus ay nanggaling sa lahi ni Propeta Isaac at si Propeta Muhammad naman ay sa lahi ni Propeta Ismael. Si Propeta Mohammad (SAWS) ay hindi marunong sumulat at bumasa. Siya ay kilala bilang isang mabait at mapagkakatiwalaang tao sa kanyang pook (Makkah). Kaya naman siya ay tinaguriang Al-Amin (Ang Mapagkakatiwalaan).

Noong siya ay apatnapung taong gulang, siya ay hinirang ng Allah bilang panghuling Propeta. At dito rin nagsimulang ipahayag sa kanya ang huling kapahayagan o rebelasyon ng Allah – ang Banal na Qur’an. Si Propeta Muhammad (SAWS) ay namatay sa gulang na animnapu’t tatlo. Siya ay inilibing sa Madina, na ngayon ay isang lungsod ng Saudi Arabia.
ANO ANG BANAL QUR’AN?

Ang Banal na Qur’an ay ang pangunahing kapahayagan ng Allah. Ito ay tunay na salita ng Allah na napanatili sa kanyang Orihinal na Anyo. Ang Banal na Qur’an ay ipinahayag kay Propeta Muhammad (SAWS) sa pamamagitan ni Anghel Gabriel sa loob ng dalawampu’t tatlong taon.

Ito ang saligan o batayan ng pananampalatayang Islam. Ang kapahayagang ito ay siyang binibigkas ng mga Muslim sa tuwing nagdarasal ng limang beses sa maghapon.

Ang Banal na qur’an ay ipinahayag ng Allah bilang gabay sa sangkatauhan. Sa katunayan, maraming Muslim ang nasasaulo ang buong banal na Qur;an.

Ito ay isang patunay na ang Banal na Qur’an ay hindi maaaring baguhin magpakailanman at isang tanda na ito ay pinangangalagaan ng Allah laban sa anumang pagbabago.

Sa Banal na Qur’an ( 15 : 9 ) ang Allah ay nagsabi:
“ Katotohanan, Aming ipinadala ang Kapahayagan; at katiyakang pangangalagaan Namin ito (sa anumang pagbabago ).”

PANINIWALA NG MGA MUSLIM

Ang Muslim ay may matapat at buong pusong paniniwala sa mga sumusunod:

1. Paniniwala sa Kaisahan ng Allah at ang Pagsamba sa Kanya lamang.

Ang Muslim ay naniniwala sa nag-iisa lamang na Diyos (Allah). Siya lamang ang karapat-dapat na sambahin sapagka’t Siya lamang ang nagkaloob ng buhay sa lahat. Ang tunay na paniniwala sa kaisahan ng Allah ay ang taus-pusong pagsaksi na Siya ay nag-iisang Diyos. Siya ay walang anak, ama o ina. Hindi Siya maaaring ihambing kaninuman o sa anuman na Kanyang nilikha.
Ayon Sa Banal na Qur’an (112 : 3-4 )
Hindi Siya nagka-anak at hindi Siya ipinanganaak, at Siya ay walang katulad.”

Ang Allah –Ang Maawain at ang Mahabagin ay nagpapatawad sa lahat ng kasalanan na Kanyang naisin. Subalit ang kasalanang hindi Niya mapatatawad ay ang pagtatambal sa Kanya sa anumang kalagayan at ang pagsamba sa iba maliban sa Kanya.

Kapag ang tao ay namatay sa isang kalagayan na siya ay sumasamba sa iba o nagtatambal sa Allah ng anuman sa anumang kalagayan, isinara na niya ang kanyang tadhana sa Paraiso.

Subalit habang siya ay nabubuhay, mayroon siyang pagkakataong bumalik sa likas na pagsamba sa Dakilang Lumikha. Ang Allah ay laging nagpapatawad sa kaninumang matapat na nagsisisi.

Ayon Sa Banal na Qur’an (4 :48 )
Katotohanan, hindi pinatatawad ng Allah ang pagbibigay katambal sa pagsamba sa Kanya, ngunit pinatatawad Niya ang lahat (maliban dito) sa kaninuman na Kanyang naisin….”
Ang Islam ay naghihikayat sa tao na kilalanin nang tapat ang Lumikha na nagkaloob ng buhay sa kanya. Kaya’t ang Allah lamang ang dapat na pag-ukulan ng pagsamba.
2. Paniniwala Sa mga Orihinal na Kasulatan
Ang Muslim ay naniniwala sa lahat ng mga Orihinal na kasulatan na ipinadala ng Allah sa Kanyang mga Propeta. Ang mga kasulatang nababanggit sa Banal na Qur’an ay ang mga sumusunod:
i) i) Suhuf (Kalatas) na ipinahayag kay Propeta Abraham (SAWS)
ii) ii) Tawrat (Torah) na ipinahayag kay Propeta Moses (SAWS)
iii) iii) Zabur (Salmo ) na ipinahayag kay Propeta David (SAWS)
iv) iv) Injeel (Ebanghelyo) na ipinahayag kay Propeta Hesus (SAWS)
v) v) Qur’an na ipinahayag kay Propeta Muhammad (SAWS )

Ang mga Orihinal na kapahayagan na nabanggit ay pinaniniwalaan ng mga Muslim sapagkat iisa lamang ang kanilang pinagmulan,- ang Allah.

Ngunit sa kasalukuyan, tanging ang Banal na Qur’an na lamang ang nalalabing kapahayagan na nananatili sa kanyang Orihinal na anyo. Ito ay nagsisilbing patotoo sa mga naunang mga aklat na ipinahayag sa mga naunang Propeta.

3. Paniniwala Sa mga Anghel.
Ang mga Muslim ay matapat na naniniwala sa mga Anghel. Nilikha ng Allah ang mga Anghel mula sa liwanag samantalang ang tao ay nilikha mula sa alabok. Bawat tao ay may dalawang anghel na nagbabantay at nagtatala sa lahat ng kanyang ginagawa, mabuti man o masama.Ang talaang ito ay tinatawag na Talaan ng Gawa. Ito ang ihaharap sa tao sa Araw ng Paghuhukom.

Kung matimbang ang kanyang mabubuting gawa, siya ay mapuputa sa Paraiso. Ngunit kung higit na matimbang ang kanyang masasamang gawa, siya ay mapupunta sa Impiyerno.
Kung tutuusin, nag pagkakalikha sa tao ay nakahihigit kaysa sa Anghel sa dahilang ang tao ay nilikha ng Allah na may kalayaan – ang sumunod o sumuway. Ngunit ang mga Anghel ay nilikha ng Allah na walang layang sumuway. Tanging ang ipinag-uutos lamang ng Allah ang kanilang ginagawa.

4. Paniniwala sa mga Propeta
Mahigpit na ipinag-uutos sa mga Muslim ang maniwala sa lahat ng mga Propeta. Hindi siya matatawag na Muslim kung itatakwil niya ang isa man sa mga Propeta . Ang ilan aa mga Propetang ito ay sina: Noah, Abraham, Ismael, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, Joseph, Moises, Aaron, Juan Bautista, Hesus at si Mohammad (SAWS).

Ang Paniniwala sa kanila ay pantay at walang pagtatangi. Kailangang mahalin at igalang silang lahat sapagkat sila ay isinugo ng Nag-iisang Tagapaglikha—ang Allah. Magkagayunman, ni isa sa kanila ay hindi dapat sambahin. sa katunayan, walang sinumang Propeta ang nagturo na siya mismo ay dapat sambahin.

Ang lahat ng Propeta ay Muslim sapagkat sila, noong kanilang panahon ay sumunod, sumuko at tumalima sa Iisang Allah-Ang Tagapaglikha.

Ang kanilang pangunahing turo o aral ay ang pagsamba, pagsuko at pagtalima sa Allah. Ang pamamaraan ng kanilang pagsamba ay iisa. Silang lahat ay tuwirang tumalima at nagpatirapa sa Allah sa kanilang pagdarasal.

Sadyang iisa ang buod ng Mensahe ng lahat ng Propeta sa dahilang iisa ang Allah na nagsugo sa kanila.

Kung marami man ang uri ng pananampalataya sa ngayon, ang mga ito ay hindi nagmula sa Allah bagkus ay nagmula sa pagtuturo ng tao.

Ang pagmamahal at paggalang sa mga Propeta ay kailangan sapagkat sila ang daan, ang ilaw at ang katotohanan. Ang aral o mensahe nilang lahat ay nagmula sa Iisang Tagapagsugo—ang Allah. At tiyak na makakamtan ng tao ang kaligtasan sa Araw ng Paghuhukom kung siya ay tunay na sumusunod sa aral at turo ng Propeta.

5. Paniniwala sa Araw ng Paghuhukom
Ang Muslim ay kailangang maniwala sa Araw ng Paghuhukom. Ang lahat ng tao ay mamamatay na siya namang simula ng buhay na walang-hanggan; Paraiso o Impiyerno.
Sa Banal na Qur’an (3 :185 ), ang Allah ay nagsabi:
“Ang lahat ng tao ay makararanas ng kamatayaan at sa Araw ng Paghuhukom lamang kayo’y gagawaran ng sapat na kabayaran…”
At sa Araw na iyon, ang lahat ng tao ay ibabangong muli ng Allah at Kanyang hahatulan batay sa kanilang gawa.

Sinuman ang sumamba tanging sa Allah lamang at gumawa ng mabuti ay mapupunta sa Paraiso. Ngunit ang sinumang sumamba sa iba maliban sa Allah ay mapupunta sa Impiyerno.
Dapat lamang na maniwala sa Araw ng Paghuhukom upang magkaroon ng saysay ang buhay ng tao sa mundong ito. Sa batas ng tao, marami ang gumagawa ng mabuti ngunit hindi nabibigyan ng sapat na gantimpala.

Marami din ang gumagawa ng masama ngunit hindi nahahatulan o nabibigyan ng tamang kaparusahan. Subalit sa Araw ng Paghuhukom, ang Allah na Siyang Makapangyarihan at Dakilang Hukom ay magbibigay ng tama at sapat na gantimpala o parusa sa lahat.
Sa Araw na iyon, doon matatagpuan at makakamtan ang lahat ng tunay na katarungan, at tanging ang Allah lamang ang makapagbibigay nito.

6. Paniniwala sa Kahihinatnan at Walang Hanggang Kaalaman ng Allah.

Ang Muslim ay kailangang maniwala na ang lahat ng nangyayari ay pinahihintulutan ng Allah: mabuti man o masama sa paningin ng tao. Walang magaganap sa kaharian ng Allah na salungat sa kanyang nais. Siya ang Maalam at ang Maawain, at ano man ang Kanyang naisin ay may makahulugangg layunin.

Dapat din siyang maniwala na ano man ang kanyang mga kahihinatnan ay pinahihintulutan ng Allah. Ang kahihinatnan ng tao ay bunga rin ng kanyang gawa sapagkat binigyan siya ng Allah ng kalayaan na pumili ng mabuti o masama.

Anuman ang magiging bunga ng kanyang pagpili ay itinalaga at pinahintulot ng Allah. Ang Allah lamang ang tanging nakababatid sa kahihinatnan ng lahat ng pagsisikap ng tao. Kung ito ay mailalagay ng tao sa kanyang puso, tatanggapin niya ng buong pananampalataya ang lahat ng loobin ng Allah kahit ito ay hindi niya nauunawaan nang ganap.
Dapat ding paniwalaan ng Muslim na bagamat hindi niya nakikita ang Allah, ay nakikita naman siya Nito. Batid ng Allah ang lahat maging ang nakatago sa puso.
Bukod sa mga nabanggit na paniniwala ng Muslim, ang Islam ay mayroon ding limang haligi na dapat gampanan o isagawa.

Ang Paniniwala ay hindi sapat. Ang pananampalataya na walang gawa ay walang buhay o saysay.

Sa Islam, ang mga sumusunod ay nararapat na isagawa ng isang Muslim bilang pangunahing daan tungo sa kaligtasan at upang matamo ang biyaya ng Alllah.

ANG HALIGI NG ISLAM
Ang Shahaadah (Pagsaksi) na walang tunay na diyos na dapat pag-ukulan ng Pagsamba maliban sa Allah at si Mohammad ay Sugo at Propeta ng Allah”
.
Pag-aalay ng limang ulit na pagdarasal (Salaah ) sa maghapon bilang pasasalamat at pag-aalaala sa Allah.
Pagbibigay ng taunang kawanggawa (Zakat). Ito ay dalawa at kalahating (2.5 %) porsiyento sa natitirang kayamanan o salapi na naipon sa loob ng isang taon. Ito ay ipinamimigay sa mga nangangailangan at nararapat makinabang.
Pag-aayuno (Siyam) tuwing buwan ng Ramadan na isinasagawa ng tanging sa Allah lamang inuuukol upang ipadama ang pagiging matapat sa Kanya.
Paglalakbay sa Makkah (Hajj) minsan sa tanang buhay ng sinumang may mainam na kaisipan, mabuting kalusugan at may sapat na salaping gugugulin sa paglalakbay.

Ang mga haliging nabanggit ay nararapat na paniwalaan at gampanan nang taus-puso bilang pagsasagawa ng pangunahing pagsamba, pagsunod at pagtalima sa ipinag-uutos ng Allah.
Sa Banal na Qur’an (51 : 56 ) ang Allah ay nagsabi:
Nilikha ko lamang ang Jinn at Tao upang sambahin Ako.”
Sa dahilang ang Allah ang nagbigay ng pananampalatayang Islam, ito ang tanging relihiyon na magpapalaya sa tao sa kanyang pagkabilanggo sa mga huwad at di-maipaliwanag na doktrina.

Ang mga doktrinang ito ay gawa lamang ng tao kaya’t kailanman ay hindi magiging malaya sa pagsasalungatan.
Ang Islam lamang ang Pananampalatayang ipinadala ng Dakilang Lumikha sa sangkatauhan.

Sa Banal na Qur’an (3 :19 ) ang Allah ay nagsabi:
“ Katotohanang ang pananampalataya sa paningin ng Allah ay ang Islam (pagsunod, pagsuko at Pagtalima sa Kanya)”
Tanging sa Islam lamang matatagpuan ang ganap na patnubay na sumasaklaw sa bawat bahagi o aspeto ng buhay. Ang mga alituntunin na dinala ng mga Propeta ay binigyang kaganapan ng Allah kay Propeta Mohammad (SAWS). Kaya naman, ang Islam ay nagbibigay ng maliwanag , praktikal at ganap na alintuntunin na kayang isakatuparan ng tao sa kanyang araw-araw na pamumuhay.

Ang Allah ay nagsabi ( 5 :3 ):

“ Sa araw na ito ay Aking binigyan ng lubos na katuparan ang inyong relihiyon para sa inyo, Aking ginawang ganap ang tulong sa inyo, at pinili ang Islam bilang inyong relihiyon.”
Nasasaad din Sa Banal na Qur’an ( 3 : 85 ):“Sinuman ang magnais ng ibang relihiyon maliban sa Islam (Pagsunod, Pagsuko, at Pagtalima sa Allah), kailanma’y hindi ito tatanggapin sa kanya at sa huling araw, siya ay makakasama ng mga talunan.” (Pagkakaitan ng buhay sa Paraiso ).
Inaanyayahan namin kayo na patuloy na sa pananaliksik sa itinuturo ng Islam na may bukas na kalooban at kaisipan upang makita ang tunay na katotohanan.

Si Propeta (SAWS) ay nagsabi :
“ Sinuman ang magsikap na matamo ang kaalaman (sa pananampalataya) gagawin ng Allah na maginhawa sa kanya ang landas tungo sa Paraiso”.
Alalahanin natin na ang buhay sa mundong ito ay panandalian lamang. Ang lahat ay magwawakas at ang lahat ng tao ay magbabalik at haharap sa Allah upang litisin.
Ayon Sa Banal na Qur’an ( 2 :156 ).
katotohanan, tayo ay nagmula sa Allah at sa kanya rin tayo muling magbabalik.”
Gayundin ang Allah ay nagsabi ( 31 :34 ).
At walang sinumang nakababatid sa kanyang kinabukasan. At wala ring nakababatid kung saang pook siya mamamatay, katotohanan, ang Allah lamang ang nakababatid (ng lahat ng bagay)”.
Hindi ba nararapat na higit nating bigyan ng pansin at paghandaan ang kabilang buhay?
Nawa’y ang maikling mensaheng ito ay nakapagbigay linaw sa pangunahing impormasyon na dapat malaman tungkol sa Islam. Hangad namin na maituwid ang anumang maling haka-haka o impormasyon bunga ng patuloy na paninira sa Islam hanggang sa kasalukuyan.

Vanni (Giovanni A. Nicanor ): How I embraced Islam

I’m a 29 year old guy from the Philippines. I was born and brought up in a Catholic family. Since my elementary years I almost expended my time in the church. I began as an altar server, then I became band member of the choir in my teenage time and since then I served the church as a Parish Youth Ministry and the band leader. I’ am a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Cursillo for Christianity (once been a Vice rector in a junior class). I do have two friends that are catholic priest and one is my compadre. Sometime my compadre Rev. Fr. Benjie and I talked about Islam on how Islam honors Jesus and his mother .

I almost expended my time serving the Catholic Church before I embraced Islam. Being a catholic there was a question always in my mind, why does the faith of the Catholic Church or other Christian Churches are focused to Jesus ? Why not Yaweh the creator? Sometimes I asked this my friends in the church but no answers from them satisfied me. I stopped questioning because they told me that I was having a doubt about God or Jesus . But still I had a doubt and I kept it.

One time I met my former drummer and had a chat with him. He told me that he converted to Islam (Balik Islam in our Philippine language) and I laughed at him and told him that he had poor faith to Jesus . He only smiled at me. Again, another question in my mind, “Why this man (a former church volunteer worker since teenage time) embraced Islam?” After that I started to research about the doctrine of Islam. It was interesting and I borrowed some booklets from a friend. I also borrowed books from my Muslim co-employee. She gave me the booklet named Christ in Islam, by Shaykh Deedat and “Islam in Focus” by Hammudah Abdalati.

I found the answers to my question and I was truly satisfied, then I started to decide if I would go and embrace Islam. I told my family about it. My mother was sad and my uncle cried and told me, “I don’t want you to go in hell”. I just smiled on him and tried to explain to him Islam. I quitted serving the church also. I and my Pastor cousin also had a debate about it. Many of my friends tried to stop me for my decision about Islam, and I told, “If any one of you can answer my question you can stop me.” (My question was, “Did Jesus ( may Allaah exalt his mention) claim to be a god and to be worshipped?”

Months later, my friend (former Altar Server of the church) came from Saudi Arabia, we had a chat and I found out that he also converted to Islam. I was so satisfied about our chat and all of my questions were answered.

I made the decision to embrace Islam. There was an Imam in our hometown. I tried to find and contact him so I can declare may Shahaada (Testimony of Faith) but I couldn’t find him. In the 100% people in our hometown there were only 1% Muslims. Months went and still I couldn’t find an Imam. Then my cousin in Dubai called me and I went to Dubai. I declared my Shahaada there with a Filipino Imam.

Now I am a Muslim and in my family I am the only one, it is sad that if I die even my mother or kids can’t touch my dead body. But this is my faith.

(MAHARLIKA  ISLANDS)

ISLAM  WAS  INTRODUCED  IN  MAHARLIKA  ISLANDS  (PHILIPPINES)   IN  THE  EARLY  1310  CENTURY  BY  AN  ARAB  ISLAMIC  MISSIONARY,  FIRST  BY   TUAN  MASHA’IKA    AND  AFTER  COUPLE  OF  YEARS  IT  WAS   FOLLOWED  BY  SHEIKH  KARIMUL  MAKDUM   WHO  LANDED  IN  BUANSA  AND  PROCEEDED  TO  TAPUL  SULU  AND  TO  SIMUNUL  ISLAND. HE  WAS  THEN  FOLLOWED  BY  SHEIKH  AMINULLAH  MAKDUM   ( MAKDUM  MEANS  MASTER  OR  TEACHER ). THEY  BUILT  MASJID  WHICH  UNTIL  NOW  THE  RUIN  CAN  BE  SEEN  IN  TUBIG  INDANGAN,  SIMUNUL  ISLAND,  AND  THEIR  GRAVES  AS  WELL. 

IN  1390,  RAJAH  BAGINDA,  WHO  CAME  FROM  MENANGKABAW,  SUMATRA  INDONESIA  ARRIVED  AT  BUANSA  AND  CONTINUED  THE  WORK  OF  MAKDUM. 

IN  1450  SHARIEF  ABUBAKAR (KNOWN  AS  SHARIEFUL  HASHIM  OR  AS  ZAIN  UL  ABIDIN)  WHO  TRAVELED  FROM  IRAQ TO  INDONESIA  AND  FROM  PALEMBANG  TO  BRUNEI  THEN  TO  JOLO.  HE  THEN  CONTINUED  TO  ENLIGHTEN  ISLAM  UNTIL  HE  FOUNDED  THE  SULTANATE  OF  SULU  AND  BECAME  THE  FIRST  SULTAN  WITH  HIS  WIFE  PRINCESS  PARAMISULI  AS  THE  FIRST  SULTANA.  UNTIL  NOW,  THERE  WERE  35  SULTANS  FROM  SULTAN  ABUBAKAR  TO  SULTAN  MUHAMMAD  FUAD  ABDULLAH  KIRAM-I (THE  PRESENT  SULTAN  OF  SULU).

 

AFTER  ISLAM  WAS  ESTABLISHED  IN  SULU,  THE  MUSLIMS  MOVED  TOWARDS  MINDANAO (COTABATO) HEADED  BY  SHARIEF  KABUNGSUWAN.  HE  LANDED  IN  MAGUINDANAW  IN  THE  YEAR  1475  AND  LATER  MARRIED  PUTRI  TUNINA  AND  BECAME  THE  FIRST  SULTAN  AND  SULTANA  OF  MAGUINDANAW.

 

IN  THE  SUCCEEDING  YEARS,  MORE  MUSLIMS  CAME  TO  MAHARLIKA  ISLANDS   LIKE  THE  FAMOUS  10  DATUS  HEADED  BY  DATU  PUTI.  THEY  WERE  DATU   SUMAKWEL,  DATU  BANGKAYA,  DATU  DUMALOGDOG,  DATU  PAIBURONG,  DATU  PADUHINOG,  DATU  LUBAY,  DATU  DUMANGSIL,  DATU  BALENSULA(VALENZUELA) .  DATU  PUTI  WAS  A  KNOWN  NAVIGATOR  AND  THEY  LANDED  IN  SIWARAGAN (NOW  SAN  JOAQUIN  ILO-ILO)  IN  PANAY  ISLAND.  WHEN  THEIR  FAMILIES  WERE  FULLY  ESTABLISHED,  DATU  PUTI,  DUMANGSIL,  AND  BALENSULA  SAILED   NORTHWARD  AND  LANDED  IN  BATANGAS.  DATU  BALENSULA  AND  DUMANGSIL  ESTABLISHED  THEIR  COLONIES  THERE  WHILE  DATU  PUTI  RETURNED  TO  BORNEO  VIA  MINDORO  AND  PALAWAN.  HE  RELATED  HIS  ADVENTURES  TO  THE  BORNEANS  AND  MORE  WERE  ATTRACTED  TO  COME  TO  MAHARLIKA  ISLANDS.

 

MEANWHILE,  IN  THE  YEAR  1494,  THIS  WAS  THE  ERA  OF   KING  LUISONG  TAGEAN,  A  MUSLIM  KING  AND  A  DECENDANT  OF  KING  MARIKUDO.  KING  LUISONG  WHO  MARRIED  TO  QUEEN  LAMAYAN  AGATEP  BOWAN  HAD  TWO  SONS.  THE  ELDEST  WAS  DATU  LAPU-LAPU ( RULED  MACTAN  ISLAND  IN  VISAYAS )  AND  SECOND  WAS  RAJAH  SULAYMAN ( RULED  MANILA  IN  LUZON ).

BY  THE  TIME  THE  SPANIARDS    LANDED  IN  LIMASAWA  ISLAND   ON  MARCH  16, 1521   HEADED   BY  FERDINAND  MAGELLAN,  MAHARLIKA  ISLANDS  ( PHILIPPINES)  WAS  ALREADY  A  MUSLIM  COUNTRY  BECAUSE  MAJORITY  OF  ITS  POPULATIONS  WERE   MUSLIMS.  IT  IS  A  FACT  IN  HISTORY  THAT  WHEN  LEGASPI (SUCCESSOR  OF  MAGELLAN )  CAME  TO  MAHARLIKA  ISLANDS  (PHILIPPINES)  ,  MUSLIM  KINGDOMS   WERE  WELL  ESTABLISHED  IN  BATANGAS,  PAMPANGGA,  MINDORO,  PANAY,  CATANDUANES,  CEBU,  BOHOL,  SAMAR,  MANILA,  PALAWAN,   ASIDE  FROM  THE  SOLID  MINDANAO  AND  SULU  ISLAND. 

 

ON  JUNE  3,  1571    THE  SPANIARDS  LAUNCHED  A  MAJOR  ATTACKED  AGAINST  THE  MUSLIMS  IN  MANILA .  THE  MUSLIMS  WERE  HEADED  BY  RAJAH  SULAYMAN,  WHO  BRAVELY  DEFENDED  HIS  KINGDOM  UNTIL  THE  LAST  DROPPED  OF  HIS  BLOOD  IN  BANGKUSAY (TONDO’S  SEASHORE).  AFTER  THE  DEFEAT  OF  RAJAH  SULAYMAN,  THE  SPANIARDS  LAMBASTED  LUZON ,  KILLING  MEN,  WOMEN,  CHILDREN,  YOUNG  AND  OLD  ALIKE.  THE  MUSLIMS  ON  THE  OTHER  HAND  FOUGHT  TO  THEIR  LAST  BREATH  WITH  BOLOS  AND  SPEARS  AGAINST  GUNS  AND  CANNONS.   THE  SPANIARDS  ESTABLISHED  THEIR  CAPITAL  IN  MANILA  AND  PLANNED  TO  CONQUER  THE  VISAYAS  WHICH  THEY  SUCCEDED.  MUSLIMS  WHO  SURVIVED  THE  BATTLE  WERE  FORCED  TO  RECANT  THEIR  RELIGION  AND  ACCEPTED  CHRISTIANITY.  BUT  THE  BRAVE  MUSLIMS  CHOOSED  THE  GRAVE  RATHER  THAN  BLASPHEMED  AGAINST  ALLAH.  THE  NATIVES  ON  THE  OTHER  HAND  WHO  WERE  WEAK  IN  FAITH  ACCEPTED  THE  SPANISH  RELIGION  WHICH  IS  CHRISTIANITY.  THE  SPANIARDS  DID  NOT  STOPPED  IN  LUZON  AND  VISAYAS,  THEY  GREEDILY  DREAMED  OF  POSSESSING  THE  RICH  LAND  OF  MINDANAO,  BUT  THE  TAUSOG,  MARANAW,  MAGUINDANAW,  YAKAN,  SAMAL  AND  THE  SANGIL  TRIBES  CURTAILED  THE  SPANIARDS  AND  SO  THE  FAMOUS  MUSLIM-SPANISH  WAR  BEGAN.

 

THERE  WERE  TWO  CAUSES  OF  THE  WAR : 1.  THE  SPANIARDS  WANTED  TO  RULE  OVER  THE  MUSLIMS,  BUT  THE  MUSLIMS  LOVE  THEIR  FREEDOM  AND  WOULD  RATHER  DIE  THAN  TO  BECOME  A  SLAVE.  2. THE  SPANIARDS  WERE  PROPAGATING  CHRISTIANITY  AT  THE  POINT  OF  SWORDS,  SO  THE  MUSLIMS  PICK-UP  THEIR  KRIS  AND  SPEARS  TO  DEFEND  ISLAM.

 

SOME  DATUS  WHO  DEFENDED  MINDANAO  FROM  THE  FOREIGN  INVADERS  AND  OPPRESSORS  ARE  AS  FOLLOWS :

 

1. SULTAN  PANGIRAN  – (TAUSOG)  WHO  DEFENDED  ZAMBOANGA  AND  SULU  AREA.
2. DATU  SIRUGAN    AND  HIS  BROTHER  DATU  UBAL    (MAGUINDANAW)  KILLED  THE  SPANISH  INVADER- CAPT.  FIGUEROA.
3. DATU  BUISAN   (LANAO )  AND  DATU  SIRUNGAN – (MAGUINDANAW)  LAUNCHED  A  COUNTER  ATTACK  TO  VISAYAS.  THEY  RAIDED  CEBU,  NEGROS  AND  PANAY  AND  CAPTURED  MANY  CHRISTIANS  WHO  WERE  MADE  SLAVES  BY  THE  SPANIARDS.

AN APPEAL TO THOSE WHO REJECT THE QUR’AN

” 55. And nothing prevents men from believing, now when the guidance (the Quran) has come to them, and from asking Forgiveness of their Lord, except that the ways of the ancients be repeated with them… (i.e. their destruction decreed by Allah), or the torment be brought to them face to face?

56. And We send not the Messengers except as giver of glad tidings and warners. But those who disbelieve, dispute with false argument, in order to refute the truth thereby. And they treat My Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and that with which they are warned, as jest and mockery!

57. And who does more wrong than he who is reminded of the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord, but turns away from them forgetting what (deeds) hishands have sent forth. Truly, We have set veils over their hearts lest they should understand this (the Quran), and in their ears, deafness. And if you (O Muhammad SAW) call them to guidance, even then they will never be guided.

58. And your Lord is Most Forgiving, Owner of Mercy. Were He to call them to account for what they have earned, then surely, He would have hastened their punishment. But they have their appointed time, beyond which they will find no escape.” ( QUR’AN 18: 55-58 )

Suicide Bombing in Islam

Islam (Submission) condemns suicide as much as it condemns oppression and aggression against others. While the Muslims (Submitters) are commanded to stand for their rights and defend themselves, their properties and their freedom they are told to first resort to peace advocate tolerance and disregard the ignorant. The following verses from the Quran show how the Quran describes suicide, such an important issue in our life that was made the center of the conflict in the Middle East lately.

(2:195) You shall spend in the cause of GOD; do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction. You shall be charitable; GOD loves the charitable.

(4:29) O you who believe, do not consume each others’ properties illicitly – only mutually acceptable transactions are permitted. You shall not kill yourselves. GOD is Merciful towards you.

(4:30) Anyone who commits these transgressions, maliciously and deliberately, we will condemn him to Hell. This is easy for GOD to do.

Suicide bombing by young uninformed Muslim youths has been carried out almost routinely as a mean of revenge in the Middle East conflict. It is mainly done to avenge their oppression, occupation and loss of freedom they have been experiencing all their life. It is carried out by the youth who lost all the hope to a peaceful settlement as they witnessed their families, loved ones, neighbors, and the innocent bystanders die or tortured at the hand of a merciless occupying force. Despite this intolerable situation no permission can be found in Islam to avenge by suicide bombing or by targeting the innocent civilians.  These young desperate Muslim youth have been taught what is NOT in the Quran, and what was never promised by God in the Holy book.

As the verses quoted above show, suicide in any form is condemned by God, no excuse given under any circumstances. The Quran does not promise Heaven (Paradise) to those who commit suicide but rather warn of condemnation to Hell. The promise of paradise or of virgin wives in Heaven for those suicide bombers and those who kill the innocent civilians has no basis in Islam and cannot be found anywhere in the Quran. These fabrications taught to these poor desperate Muslim youths originated probably from the man made books of Hadiths and Sunna that were condemned by God and by the prophet Muhammad himself who told his followers to follow ONLY the Quran.

Suicide is a state of disbelief and loss of faith that is condemned by God throughout the Quran. In the Quran, God commands the believers never to despair or lose hope and instead work for a brighter future.

(12:87) “………………….. None despairs of GOD’s grace except the disbelieving people.”

We do understand the dire situation in which these youth live and we do have the full sympathy to their suffering and oppression , but we cannot agree with breaking God’s commandment. Oppression is not a reason to break God’s law, on the contrary oppression is a good reason to hold tight to these commandments and to show the world the true and peaceful face of Islam (Submission). If we break God’s law we move ourselves away from His mercy and lose His support. We should know that it is by following God’s law in the Quran we will gain dignity and sovereignty on our land while achieving peace, tolerance and love to the whole world around us. We have to believe that two wrongs will not make one right. Now after thousands of wrongs carried out by both sides in the conflict, no right emerged and will never emerge. Unless we go back to God’s commandments in the scriptures, the Torah, Gospel and/or the Quran, there will be no success and no victory for any group. . All the scriptures call  on the people to live in peace and harmony and to advocate tolerance. Victory as far as God is concerned is achieved by the guarantee of  freedom and justice for all and not by the domination of one group or nation above another..

Quran urges the followers of Islam (Submission) to resort to peace first and whenever possible but they may fight the oppressors if peaceful means failed. Fighting does not include killing the innocent civilians and the least expecting people as this reflects the meanest kind of character and does not reflect the spirit and/or teachings of Islam (Submission.) These suicide bombers can contribute more and better for the society if they direct their efforts into teaching the world about their cause and work with their neighbors to strengthen their stand against oppression, or be a part of the peaceful solution of the problem they have been facing instead of being a reason for its failure.

The blame can be equally thrown at the oppressors who gave these youths no chance or HOPE to live in dignity and freedom. The world has to speak up against the oppression and occupation of the land and life of these people as well. No where in any divine or human law is a place for a group of people to live at the expense of oppressing others or occupying their homes, land, and life. Peace can only be achieved when mutual respect of human life and properties are achieved.

We should make every effort to educate our young and youth of the Quranic commandments and it is as important for the free world to make every effort to stop this aggression and oppression against a whole nation under occupation that find no exit from this desperate situation except by death or dying.

(8:61)  “If they resort to peace, so shall you, and put your trust in GOD. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.”

(7:199) You shall resort to pardon, advocate tolerance, and disregard the ignorant.

(16:90) GOD advocates justice, charity, and regarding the relatives. And He forbids evil, vice, and transgression. He enlightens you, that you may take heed.

(49:13) O people, we created you from the same male and female, and rendered you distinct peoples and tribes, that you may recognize one another. The best among you in the sight of GOD is the most righteous. GOD is Omniscient, Cognizant.

Who is Allah? Allah means God. It is a personal name, which Allah calls Himself in the Quran. That is where we get it. It can also be found in an Aramaic copy of the Bible, and even Christian Arabs say Allah.

Who is Jesus to us? Jesus peace be upon Him is a true prophet. Sent by Allah like Moses, Abraham, Lot, Noah, Jonah, Joseph …etc.

Who were Jesus’s parents? Jesus is the son of Virgin Mary, and he had no father. Allah created Jesus.

Can Jesus, or Mohammed peace be upon them be worshipped? No, Allah does not accept that a cow, a person, an angel, a prophet, a stone, or anything be worshipped in place of him, or even along with Him. Worship must be to Allah the creator of them.

Is Allah the same as what Christians call the father? Allah is the creator who Jesus worshipped. He is the Creator who spoke to Moses, and split the sea for Moses, and his followers. That is Allah. But Allah tells us: “Say Allah is one, He is Perfect, He has never begotten, nor was He begott, and there is no one equal to Him”.

Is there a trinity in Islam? No. Allah is perfect.

Do we believe that Allah created the heavens and earth in 6 days? Yes, but He did not rest on the seventh day, because He did not get tired. Allah is perfect He does not get tired, nor does He sleep, eat, go to the bathroom, feel pain, or die for that matter.

Can we see Allah? Allah is not like the sun. Anyone can see the Sun. But Allah is the most beautiful. Nothing is as beautiful as Allah. Actually looking at Allah is the greatest pleasure of the people in Pradise. This pleasure Allah does not give anyone but the believers. So no one will see Allah before he dies.

Does Allah see us? Allah sees us, and knows everything about us. He knows us better than we know ourselves. There is not a leaf on a tree that blows away, or stays in its place except that He knows it. There is not a dry spot, nor a wet spot, nor a grain in the depths of the earth except that Allah knows it.

Do we have free will? Yes, of course. Allah does not punish us for something we did not do on our own. But at the same time, our will is not inspire of Allah’s will. We cannot do anything if Allah will not allow it. In other words nothing goes on in Allah’s kingdom without His will.

Did Allah create Evil? Yes, Allah created the good, and the bad. Whatever bad happens to us is due to our sins. We sin and Allah pardons much of what we do; however, when something bad happens to us it is our fault, and we are to blame. Bad things that happen to a person are a chance for that person to reflect, and ask: ”Why is this happening to me?” A chance for a person to return from his sin, and obey, and worship Allah.

Do bad things happen to the believers (good people)? Yes, they do.  But they appear bad to the believers cause they are things people don’t like. Who likes breaking a leg? However, when a bad thing happens to a believer this believer is patient. He praises Allah in all circumstances. He knows Allah does not decree something unless it is for his own good.

But how can breaking a leg are good for a beleiver? Because it is a chance for the believer to think about what he did wrong.

Also because Allah forgives much of what we do, but those things we are not forgiven, they are forgiven due to our patience when we are struck by a calamity. Allah gives us better reward when a problem strikes us on earth if we are patient. This reward can be on earth, and it can be in Heaven.

Does Allah hear my prayers? Yes.

Does Allah answer my prayers? We know that Allah answers all the prayers of the believers. This can be in 4 ways:

1- Get what we are asking for!

2- Get something as good or better!

3- We get spared something bad that would have happened otherwise.

4- We get rewarded on the day of Judgment with a much greater reward than what we were asking for on earth.

When does Allah not answer our prayers? * When it is bad for us!

* When we ask, but not from our heart!

* When we say: I asked and asked and He did not answer.

* When we eat, drink, and wear unlawful, food, and clothes, and property that wa earned either through interest from the bank, or that was stolen, or if the food was pork, or the like.

What can I ask of Allah? Any thing but don’t ask Him to do things like make you a prophet. Cause He has already said that there will be no more prophets.

You can ask Allah for guidance. Meaning you can ask Him to show you the correct religion.

Who are my best friends? Your best friends are the ones that care where you go after you are dead. This is like the prophets. They cared that we go to heaven, even if it meant some hardship on earth.

Who is my worst enemy? That would be the devils, whether they are human devils (evil people), or Jinn devils (like Iblis) The Arabic word for a devil is Shaytan (similar to Satan). Satan wants us all to go to hell. He wants us to be bad on earth, even if we get rich, or do lots of wrong things that we appear to enjoy, he does not mind that. But he wants to make sure we don’t go to heaven.

What is it that keeps us from entering Heaven? Worship of anyone other than Allah is the greatest sin. It is called shirk, and this is not forgiven except through repentance.

Where is Allah? Allah is the highest. He is high above ALL of His creation. He is ascended upon a Throne, which is greater than the heavens, and the Earth. Much much much greater than the heavens and the earth. So much greater that the heavens and the earth could fit in the footstool of the throne, and they would be like a ring thrown into an open desert. Allah is certainly the greatest.

Does Allah look like us? No Allah is perfect. He is not like any of His creation. He has told us that He has Hands, Eyes, a Face, and Foot. But all of these attributes are befitting to His might and Glory.

A Muslim does not say a single thing about Allah other than what Allah says about Himself. We don’t say He is like a clover, He got tired, He is Jealous!

Allah is Perfect, and Unique.

What does it mean to believe in Allah? It means to believe in Allah in total perfection, and uniqueness.

It means to believe in His prophets cause they are His, and He sent them. We cannot pick and choose. A Muslim must believe in all the prophets of Allah.

It means to believe in the Angles! We must love them all, we cannot hate an Angel say, for example, to hate Michael who is charged with rain, and the vegetation of the Earth, or Gabriel who is charged with revelation (brings down the scriptures to the prophets).

It means to believe in Allah’s predestination of good, and bad (relative to us, but to Allah everything Allah does is good).

It means to believe in the last day: The day of Judgment.

When is the Day of Judgment? Only Allah knows.

Are there signs for the day of Judgment? Plenty, plenty, plenty. Many have already occurred.

To name a few,

Objects will begin to talk.

There will be much killing. The killer won’t know why he killed, and the guy that was killed won’t know why he was killed.

The Antichrist will come.

Prophet Jesus son of Mary will return.

Gog and Magog will be set free.

The sun will rise from the west (after this one there can be no more repentance)

What about non-Muslims do they go to heaven? Allah only accepts Islam. He says in the Quran: “Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam it won’t be accepted of him, and he will be one of the losers in the hereafter”. I would rather lose anywhere, but not lose in the hereafter. This is because Hellfire is eternal. It never ends, and we never die when we go there, if we go there.

What about someone who never heard of Islam? Allah is the most just. Don’t even think that we can be nicer than Allah. Allah is the Most Just, and He said in the Quran “We were not to punish till having sent a warner”. The “We” here is the majestic we used in Arabic. So if a person never heard about Islam, and was never warned clearly Allah would have a special test for that person that He knows is equal to the chance that person would have had on earth.

How do we know Islam is the truth? It is the only religion that:

1- Hold Allah as One, Unique, and Perfect.

2- A lonly worship of Allah, not Jesus, not an idol, and not an angel only Allah.

3- The Quran does not contain contradictions.

4- The Quran contains scientific facts, which are 1300 years ahead of their time. The Quran while revealed 1400 years ago contains scientific facts, which are only now being discovered. It is not in contradiction to science.

5- Allah challenges the world to produce the like of the Quran. And He says they won’t be able to.

6- Prophet Mohammed was the most influential man in History. Even a non-Muslim wrote a book called the 100 most influential men in History, and Prophet Mohammed was #1. Prophet Jesus was #3. Note even Prophet Jesus was a prophet sent by Allah. Would Allah allow a false prophet to be so successful? No. Even the Bible says this in Deuteronomy 18:19. A false prophet would die!!! Yet Prophet Mohammed did not die till he completely conveyed, and taught Allah’s religion.

7- He had many prophecies, and all of his prophecies have come true, or are still coming true.

Most importantly is this: Allah created us, and we know that we should only worship Him. This is an instinct Allah has created us with. He did not just leave us, rather He sent prophets for us. These prophets had miracles as proof. The miracle for us today is the Quran. There is no other religion that worships only Allah, and believes in Him as totally perfect, and believes in all of His prophets, and scriptures.

Can anyone become a Muslim? Yes anyone can. There are two declarations, which are necessary:

1- To bear witness that no one deserves to be worship except Allah

2- To bear witness that Prophet Mohammed is the Messenger of Allah.

This makes a person Muslim. But it should be said in Arabic. Next a person takes a shower, and He/She is a Muslim.

Then What? After a person becomes Muslim he/she is taught about Prayers, Fasting, the Poor due, Pilgrimage. These are pillars of Islam.

Then What? Muslims are brothers. A Muslim should love for his brother what he loves for himself. Allah’s wealth does not run out, and Allah can provide for us all. We pray for each other, and love each other, and love for our brothers and sisters what we love for ourselves.
